Some Common Catholic Prayers
Every good thing we have comes from God, and that is
why we offer Grace Before Meals, to acknowledge our dependence on Him
and to ask Him to bless us and our food.
We should also offer thanksgiving for the food that we have received by praying the Grace Before Meals and after Meals.
Grace Before Meals
Bless us, O Lord
And these Thy gifts
which we are about to receive
Through Thy bounty
through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen
Grace After Meals
"We give Thee thanks, Almighty God,
for all thy benefits,
Who lives and reigns,
world without end. Amen.
"Vouchsafe, O Lord,
to reward
with eternal life,
all those who do us good for
Thy Name's sake.
Amen.
Prayer to our
Guardian Angel
Angel of God, my Guardian dear
To whom God's love
entrusts me here,
ever, this day be at my side
to light and guard
to rule and guide.
Amen
Prayers for the Faithfully Departed
"May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.
Vigil for the Dead in Poland |
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.
