Father Timothy Radcliffe, O.P., who once called gay sexuality "eucharistic," will kick off the 51st annual Eucharistic Congress as its first speaker.

Held in the Philippines this year, the Congress will also include New York's Cdl. Timothy Dolan, Bp. Robert Barron and Cdl. Oswald Gracias, another gay-friendly Churchman.

Father Radcliffe has caused controversy for publicly praising same-sex civil unions, once saying they can be "expressive of Christ's self-gift." In the 2013 Pilling Report titled "Working Group on Human Sexuality," published by the Church of England, he offered the following on gay sexuality:

We cannot begin with the question of whether it is permitted or forbidden! We must ask what it means, and how far it is Eucharistic. Certainly it can be generous, vulnerable, tender, mutual and non-violent. So in many ways, I would think that it can be expressive of Christ's self-gift.

A former Master General of the international Dominican Order of Preachers, Fr. Radcliffe is a well-known proponent of progressive ideology. He often celebrated Mass for the U.K. dissident group Soho Masses Pastoral Council (now renamed the LGBT Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council), whose gay Masses in London went on for six years before being shut down by Cdl. Vincent Nichols. 

The Pastoral Council has hosted gay activist speakers, including two openly homosexual priests (one of them "married" to his male partner) at a conference in 2013.

Controversy arose when Radcliffe was chosen to be keynote speaker at the 2013 Divine Mercy Conference in Dublin. A number of groups called to rescind the invitation, and Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) in Ireland found it sufficiently scandalous to refuse to cover the event. Instead, EWTN Radio devoted an episode featuring commentary from a priest from the Courage apostolate (a faithful Catholic organization that ministers to those struggling with same-sex attraction) to discuss Radcliffe's heterodox leanings.

In 2012, in the liberal U.K. paper The Tablet, he praised same-sex civil unions: "This is not to denigrate committed love of people of the same sex. This too should be cherished and supported, which is why church leaders are slowly coming to support same-sex civil unions. The God of love can be present in every true love."

In 2006, Radcliffe delivered a keynote speech in Los Angeles titled "The Church as Sign of Hope and Freedom," and challenged Catholics to "stand with" homosexuals.

We must accompany them as they discern what this means, letting our images be stretched open. This means watching "Brokeback Mountain," reading gay novels, living with our gay friends and listening with them as they listen to the Lord. ... We are not a sign of God's freedom until we can dare to belong to each other across every theological boundary.

And in a 2005 Tablet article, Radcliffe strongly advocated for the possibility of homosexual priests, in contradiction to Church practice forbidding those with deep-seated homosexual tendencies entry into the priesthood.

I have no doubt that God does call homosexuals to the priesthood, and they are among the most dedicated and impressive priests I have met. ... And we may presume that God will continue to call both homosexuals and heterosexuals to the priesthood because the Church needs the gifts of both.

Radcliffe has also spoken in favor of female ordination as well as relaxing restrictions on Holy Communion to the divorced and civilly remarried. In an article for the Jesuit magazine America, he wrote of a "new way of being church," expressing the hope that "a way will be found to welcome divorced and remarried people back to communion. And, most important, that women will be given real authority and voice in the Church." He went on to advocate female ordination to the diaconate, questioning the Pope's judgment on banning women from the ministerial priesthood.

The first Eucharistic Congress took place in Lille, France in 1881, and began as a local event meant to increase devotion to the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. As the event grew, it spread to other cities and countries. The 51st Eucharistic Congress will take place this year in Cebu, Philippines, and describes its aim as manifesting "an underlying vision of 'Eucharistic Ecclesiology' which is oriented toward COMMUNION and ONENESS in the community that is the Church and which naturally seeks to reach out to all, especially those who are at the fringes of society ... ."

Father Radcliffe is scheduled to open the first plenary session January 20, with a talk titled "The Christian Virtue of Hope."

WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Representative Steve King of Iowa walked out of President Obama's final State of the Union (SOTU) address last night in protest of Obama's stance on abortion.
Government members are able to reserve seats in the gallery of the Capitol Building for important events like the SOTU address. Obama left the seat next to the First Lady open to commemorate victims of gun violence, "who no longer have a voice — because they need the rest of us to speak for them." Many comment it's a political ploy to prop up a presidency that even many liberal democrats say has been a disaster.

[t]o support the Americans whose lives have been forever changed by the terrible ripple effect of gun violence — survivors who've had to learn to live with a disability, or without the love of their life. To remind every single one of our representatives that it's their responsibility to do something about this.

Congressman King considers Obama's concern for human life disingenuous, saying:

He is the most pro-abortion president ever. The San Bernardino victims' body temperatures had declined only from 98.6 to 93 degrees Farenheit when Obama twisted the "Allahu Akbar" screaming bloodlust into an anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment tirade. I am sickened by the acts of war twisted into "workplace violence" and by a president who would veto the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, H.R. 3504, that would protect the lives, at least of those who survived the attempt on their lives, by abortionists.

King's office, which confirmed that King left his own gallery seat open during Obama's address "to commemorate the lives of more than 55 million aborted babies, 'the chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world.'"

King has a 100 percent rating with the National Right to Life Committee in voting for pro-life laws, voting against human embryonic stem cell research and the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.
Nearly 9 million children have been aborted in the United States since Obama took office. One of the hallmarks of Obama's presidency is his unwavering support for Planned Parenthood; he has several times guaranteed full support, even vetoing the bill passed in both houses last week to defund the abortion giant.
It's a trend, however, that shows even Republicans giving in to the abortion juggernaut. Last month Congress passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill giving Planned Parenthood hundreds of millions of dollars.

DETROIT, August 24, 2015 (ChurchMilitant.com) - More than half a million faithful are asking the Pope for clarity.

The Filial Appeal to Pope Francis has garnered the signatures of leading prelates and lay Catholics, and pleads with the Holy Father to put an end to the worldwide confusion over Church teaching on marriage and the family.

Your Holiness, in light of information published on the last Synod, we note with anguish that, for millions of faithful Catholics, the beacon seems to have dimmed in face of the onslaught of lifestyles spread by anti-Christian lobbies. In fact we see widespread confusion arising from the possibility that a breach has been opened within the Church that would accept adultery — by permitting divorced and then civilly remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion — and would virtually accept even homosexual unions when such practices are categorically condemned as being contrary to Divine and natural law. ...

Truly, in these circumstances, a word from Your Holiness is the only way to clarify the growing confusion amongst the faithful. It would prevent the very teaching of Jesus Christ from being watered down and would dispel the darkness looming over our children's future should that beacon no longer light their way.

Holy Father, we implore You to say this word. 

Nearly 90 bishops and almost 150 priests have signed the petition, including former prefect of the Apostolic Signatura Raymond Cardinal Burke, Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan, and Bishop Robert Vasa of Santa Rosa, California. Other signatories include bishops from nearly every continent.

Prominent political leaders and royalty who have signed the document include H.R.H. Prince Dom Duarte, Duke of Braganza, Head of the Royal House of Portugal; H.I.R.H. Prince Dom Luiz of Orleans-Braganza, Head of the Imperial House of Brazil; Kigeli V, exiled King of Rwanda; and various current or former members of parliament in Europe and other countries. Professors, attorneys, authors and Catholic activists have also signed the petition.

Prayer for Healing the Family Tree

Heavenly Father, I come before You as Your child, in great need of Your help; I have physical health needs, emotional needs, spiritual needs, and interpersonal needs.  Many of my problems have been caused by my own failures, neglect, and sinfulness, for which I humbly beg Your forgiveness, Lord.  But I also ask You to forgive the sins of my ancestors whose failures have left their effects on me in the form of unwanted tendencies, behaviour patterns, and defects in body, mind, and spirit.  Heal me, Lord, of all these disorders.

With Your help I sincerely forgive everyone, especially living or dead members of my family tree, who have directly offended me or my loved ones in any way, or those whose sins have resulted in our present sufferings and disorders.  In the name of Your Divine Son, Jesus, and in the power of His Holy Spirit, I ask You, Father, to deliver me and my entire family tree from the influence of the evil one.  Free all living and dead members of my family tree, including those in adoptive relationships and those in extended family relationships, from every contaminating form of bondage.  By Your loving concern for us, Heavenly Father, and by the shed blood of Your Precious Son, Jesus, I beg You to extend Your blessing to me and to all my living and deceased relatives.  Heal every negative effect transmitted through all past generations, and prevent such negative effects in future generations of my family tree.

I symbolically place the cross of Jesus over the head of each person in my family tree and between each generation; I ask You to let the cleansing blood of Jesus purify the bloodlines in my family lineage.  Set Your protective angels to encamp around us, and permit Archangel Raphael, the patron of healing, to administer Your divine healing power to all of us, even in areas of genetic disability.  Give special power to our family members’ guardian angels to heal, protect, guide, and encourage each of us in all our needs.  Let Your healing power be released at this very moment, and let it continue as long as Your sovereignty permits.

In our family tree, Lord, replace all bondage with a holy bonding in family love.  And let there be an ever-deeper bonding with You, Lord, by the Holy Spirit, to Your Son, Jesus.  Let the family of the Holy Trinity pervade our family with its tender, warm, loving presence, so that our family may recognize and manifest that love in all our relationships.  All of our unknown needs we include with this petition that we pray in Jesus’ precious name.  Amen.

Just imagine what society today would have looked like, could have looked like if Church leaders had done their job for the past 50 years, had a vigorous defense been put up against the evil of contraception back in the 1960s — even before the 1960s;if the American hierarchy would have fought tooth and nail against no-fault divorce back in the day, and against Catholic politicians who supported it; would have flat out ex-communicated most of the Kennedy clan when there was still something fearful and consequential about being excommunicated.

Imagine if the seminaries would have been properly patrolled and monitored in the 1940s and 1950s to screen out men who were there for a hundred other reasons other than love of souls. What if the catechetical garbage flowing out of Catholic publishers would have been slam-dunked before it ever got in front of the eyes of a Catholic student? Or if women religious orders would have been purged of femi-nazi lesbians just waiting their turn to get revenge on their male masters? Or if male religious orders would have been purged from the seminaries on down of effeminate men looking for some psychosexual drama outlet and a place to meet like-minded men?

Imagine for just a moment — allow yourself to dream — what the culture would like if we had real men battling the plague of homosexuality in the culture back in the 1970s instead of prelates like Cdl. Joseph Bernadin in Chicago and Cdl. John Dearden in Detroit embracing that sub-culture — if we had prelates who could recognize the spiritual meltdown occurring instead of helping it along — if they were surrounded by men and women who actually cared for the Faith more than themselves and their own interests and pet projects.

How would bishops have been served so much better by those around them if their staffs hadn't been so concerned about becoming bishops themselves? What would things be like now if there had been real men who loved and believed in Our Lord’s Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament, instead of those who had lost their supernatural faith? Where would the culture be now if valiant men, virtuous men had shouted from the rooftops and pounded on pulpits that truth is truth and evil is evil no matter how either may appear?

What if politicians would have had to pay a price among Catholic voters for their choice to support evil? What would the world look like today if presidents and clergy at Catholic universities had kept true to their identities instead of polluting young Catholics’ minds?

How incredible, how far removed from the darkness would our families and loved ones be now if only ... if only ... ?

And how much greater would the likelihood be now that many of these men back in the day might not have been damned, if they were?

Moving forward, Catholics today have been given a world drowning in evil because of Catholics of yesteryear and the men they trained to run the show today. The question is therefore, look into your crystal ball down the road and ask yourself: What will Catholics of the next generations say about me and how I acted today in the name of the Church?

And don’t forget: By the time the future rolls around and they ask that question of us, Our Blessed Lord will have already answered it for us. And the answer will be either Heaven or Hell.

For the past few weeks, the Satanic Temple has been in the spotlight concerning the controversial unveiling of a satanic statue in downtown Detroit. The Temple, by its nature, is a reclusive and shadowy organization, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that even when given center stage it masks and skirts around the true intentions of its agenda: the destruction of the Catholic Church.  

In an interview that aired earlier this month on WJBK-TV, president of the Detroit chapter of the Satanic Temple Jex Blackmore, in defending her beliefs, played the role of victim, claiming that there is a "deep misunderstanding about satanism as a religion" and that satanism is simply "a non-theistic religious organization that has political and activist undertones" (a description that contradicts itself, as theism is the essence of religion). According to Blackmore, "We understand Satan not in the Judeo-Christian concept, but in a literary and philosophical history in which Satan is a cultural hero" who rebelled against "systems of authority and power."

Despite her argument (and attempts to garner sympathy), this definition is essentially indistinguishable from the Judeo-Christian interpretation: Satan is the quintessential revolutionary who rejected the rule of the Ultimate Authority. However, the Temple's definition of Lucifer differs in one key area: They deny his existence.

The saying goes: "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist," for if there is a Prince of Darkness, there must also be a Prince of Light. In admitting that they believe in Satan as a being, the Satanic Temple must also acknowledge the existence of God, and in acknowledging the existence of God they must acknowledge His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. It is, of course, less beneficial to their cause to openly admit they seek to undermine the foundations of the Church than it is to hide their intentions under the guise of the pursuit of reason and scientific understanding. Therefore, they must, as they have, claim the erection of a satanic statue at the Oklahoma state capitol is not to mock Christianity but instead to create dialogue. "The purpose of the monument," explains Blackmore, "is to stand in contrast and conversation with established religious icons such as the 10 Commandments." 

If one actually needs proof that the very existence of the Satanic Temple is to mock the Catholic Church, one need not look farther than its website. The tab icon features an inverted cross, a direct perversion of the Crucifixion, as do multiple photographs taken inside the Temple. President Blackmore can also be seen wearing the upside-down cross around her neck in several photographs. This itself is acknowledgement that despite claims to equally oppose all "theistic religions," there exists a particularly strong animosity toward Christianity. 

The Detroit Temple also made headlines in December for creating a display known as the "Snaketivity Scene." The satanic alternative to the Nativity featured a snake wrapped around a cross. A banner on the cross read "The Greatest Gift is Knowledge," and a copy of the book Revolt of the Angels sat at its base. Again, this only further solidifies the argument that the purpose of the Satanic Temple is to specifically pervert the traditions and beliefs of Christians. 

According to the official Introductory Primer of the Satanic Temple, one of its featured campaigns (which also includes support for so-called "marriage equality") is the "Pink Mass." Described as a ceremony "designed to 'make the deceased gay in the after-life,'" the ritual includes the reading of scriptures, lighting of candles and ceremonial proceedings that involve two homosexuals kissing over the grave of the deceased while a High Priest, complete with horns, oversees the act. This begs the question: If the Satanic Temple seeks to merely join the ranks of other religions and be accepted as merely an alternative to "theistic religion," then why call grave desecration a Mass? Why take the name of the integral part of the Catholic faith and defile it by association with a graphic ritual? The answers are abundantly clear. 

To make matters worse, the archdiocese of Detroit has been absent amid the controversy. Remaining inactive or apathetic toward a situation that requires one's diect condemnation is nearly tantamount to complicity. Faithful Catholic opposition has not been wholly absent, however. Many local churches have taken it on themselves to held special Masses of Reparation and Holy Hours specifically scheduled on July 25, the day of the unveiling. "We wanted to do something," says Teresa Chisholm , a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church on Jay Street in Detroit, "and the Mass is the most powerful prayer. So it seemed fitting to have a Mass along with confession, to repent for our own sins and to pray in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus."
