Fatima Novena Prayer

Novena to Our Lady of Fatima
 May 5  – May 13

Most Holy Virgin, who has deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three little shepherds the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of the Rosary, inspire our hearts with sincere love of this devotion.

By meditating on the mysteries of our redemption that are recalled in your Rosary, may we gather the fruits contained therein and obtain the conversion of sinners, the conversion of Russia, the Peace of Christ for the world, and this favor that I so earnestly seek of you in this novena....

(here mention your request)

I ask this of you, for the greater glory of God, for your own honor and for the good of all people. Amen

Say three times the following prayers:
Our Father,
Hail Mary
Glory Be

Litany of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ

Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy
Lord, have mercy
Christ, hear us
Christ, graciously hear us
God the Father in heaven, have mercy on us
God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us
God, the Holy Ghost, have mercy on us
Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us
Blood of Christ, the only-begotten Son of the eternal Father,
save us
Blood of Christ, the Word of God made flesh, *
Blood of Christ, of the New and Eternal Covenant, *
Blood of Christ, which in His agony ran down upon the ground, *
Blood of Christ, which welled up under the scourging,
Blood of Christ, which flowed from beneath the crown of thorns,
Blood of Christ, which was poured out upon the cross,
Blood of Christ, which paid for our salvation,
Blood of Christ, without which there is no forgiveness of sin,
Blood of Christ, which in the Eucharist nourishes and cleanses our souls,
Blood of Christ, torrent of mercy,
Blood of Christ, which overcame the powers of darkness,
Blood of Christ, giving strength to martyrs,
Blood of Christ, giving endurance to confessors,
Blood of Christ, from which virginity flowers,
Blood of Christ, giving courage to those in danger,
Blood of Christ, giving help to those who are burdened,
Blood of Christ, giving comfort to those in sorrow,
Blood of Christ, giving hope to the repentant,
Blood of Christ, through which the dying are consoled,
Blood of Christ, through which our hearts find peace and refreshment,
Blood of Christ, through which we are assured of everlasting life,
Blood of Christ, by which the gates of Purgatory are opened wide,
Blood of Christ, worthy of all praise and glory,

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

V. Thou hast ransomed us with Thy Blood, O Lord.
R. And made of us a kingdom for our God.

Let Us Pray: Almighty and everlasting God, Thou hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the Redeemer of the world, and chosen to accept the offering of His Blood; therefore, we beg Thee, teach us to reverence that which paid for our salvation, and defend us by Its power from the evils of this earthly life, so that we may rejoice forever in the life that It has bought for us in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord.

R. Amen

PRAYERS FOR OUR PRIESTS

Prayers for Our Priests...
Without them there is NO Holy Eucharist!!

In my parish there are those who take every opportunity to criticize and fight against our parish priest and have been doing this over many years... we have lost 3 highly devout and holy priests, true to the Teachings of the Magisterium.

Laity has decided THEY are in charge and KNOW WHAT’S BEST, even sinking down to threatening that their contributions will stop!

We need to SUPPORT our priests, they have a hard job!!

We need to bring back the
RESPECT AND LOVE for our priests.

Please join me in praying for them every day and BE SUPPORTIVE OF YOUR PRIEST…

Following are FIVE PRAYERS FOR PRIESTS...PLEASE PASS THEM ON.

A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
By John Cardinal O'Connor

Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs.

We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.

We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.

We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.

March, 1995

NOVENA FOR PRIESTS

Jesus, Good Shepherd,

You sent us the Holy Spirit to guide Your Church

and lead her faithful to You through the ministry of Your priests.

Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to Your priests

wisdom in leading,

faithfulness in teaching,

and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries.

As they cry out with all the faithful, "Abba, Father!"

may Your priests be ever more closely identified

with You in Your divine Son-ship

and offer their own lives with You, the one saving Victim.

Make them helpful brothers of one another,

and understanding fathers of all Your people.

On this Pentecost Sunday, renew in Your priests

deeper faith,

greater trust in You,

childlike reliance on our Mother Mary,

and unwavering fidelity to the Holy Father and his bishops.

Holy Mary, intercede for your priests.
St. Joseph, protect them.
St. Michael, defend them.
St. John Vianney, pray for them.

LITANY FOR PRIESTS

Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
give all priests Thy spirit of humility;

Jesus, poor and worn out for souls,
give all priests Thy spirit of zeal;

Jesus, full of patience and mercy for sinners,
give all priests Thy spirit of compassion;

Jesus, victim for the sins of the world,
give all priests Thy spirit of sacrifice;

Jesus, lover of the little and the poor,
give all priests Thy spirit of charity.

Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us;

and obtain for us numerous and holy
priests and religious.

Amen.

PROTECTION FOR OUR PRIESTS

O Jesus, Eternal Priest

Keep Thy Priests within the shelter of Thy Sacred Heart where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their hands, which daily touch Thy Sacred Body;

Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with Thy Precious Blood,

Keep pure and unworldly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of Thy Priesthood.

Let Thy Holy Love surround them from the world’s contagion.  Bless their labors with abundant fruit.

May the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here, and their everlasting crown in heaven.

Amen.

Mary's Rosary Promises

The Fifteen Promises of Mary to Christians Who Recite the Rosary

Ø Whoever shall faithfully serve my by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces*.
Ø I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those shall recite the rosary.
Ø The rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
Ø It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things.  Oh, that  souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
Ø The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the rosary, shall not perish.

Ø Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune.  God will not chastise him in His Justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
Ø Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
Ø Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light to God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.

Ø I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the rosary.
Ø The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.
Ø You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary.
Ø All those who propagate the holy rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

Celestial Court

Ø I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
Ø All who recite the rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only son Jesus Christ.
Ø Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of predestination.

Why Go to Catholic Mass? What is Spiritual Communion?

What is a Catholic Mass?

Mass is the central act of worship in the life of a Catholic. Going to Mass is about spending time with God, but also receiving his graces (inner strength to live the Christian life). The name ‘Mass’ comes the final blessing said by the priest in Latin ‘Ite missa es’ meaning “to send out” as Jesus Christ sent his disciples out to the world to take his teaching to them we are to do the same.
Graces Derived from Assisting at Mass

  1. The Mass is Calvary continued.
  2. Every Mass is worth as much as the sacrifice of our Lord's life, sufferings, and death.
  3. Holy Mass is the most powerful atonement for your sins.
  4. At the hour of death the Masses you have heard will be your greatest consolation.
  5. Every Mass will go with you to judgment and plead for pardon.
  6. At Mass you can diminish more or less temporal punishment due to your sins, according to your fervor.
  7. Assisting devoutly at Holy Mass you render to the sacred humanity of Our Lord the greatest homage.
  8. He supplies for many of your negligences and omissions.
  9. He forgives the venial sins which you have not confessed.  The power of Satan over you is diminished.
  10. You afford the souls in Purgatory the greatest possible relief.
  11. One Mass heard during life will be of more benefit to you than many heard fro you after your death.
  12. Your are preserved from dangers and misfortunes which otherwise might have befallen you.  You shorten your purgatory.
  13. Every Mass wins for you a higher degree of glory in Heaven.
  14. You receive the priest's blessing which Our Lord ratifies in Heaven.
  15. You kneel amidst a multitude of holy angels, who are present at the adorable Sacrifice with reverential awe.
  16. You are blessed in your temporal goods and affairs.
In eternity, we shall fully realize that it was certainly worthwhile to have assisted at Holy Mass daily.

PRAY FOR PRIESTS THAT THEY MAY OFFER
THE MASS WITH HOLY LOVE AND REVERENCE.

Holy Communion - The Holy Eucharist
Each time we receive Holy Communion our venial sins are forgiven.
Christ revealed to St. Gertrude the Great that each time ONE person receives Holy Communion something good happens to every being in heaven, on earth and in purgatory.
The Curate of Ars said that a Communion well received is worth more than 20,000 NFF (New Franc - French currency a great amount in those days) given to the poor.
Each time we receive Communion our place in heaven is raised forever, our stay in purgatory shortened.
After receiving Holy Communion Our Lord said we should pray:

"Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
may the whole world burn with love for You!"

(revelation to Gabrielle Bossis in France)
Prayers after Mass and Communion
Prayers before the Crucifix
Look down on me Good and Gentle Jesus,
while before Thy Face I humbly kneel and with burning soul pray and beseech Thee to fix deep in my heart livelysentiments of faith, hope and charity, true contrition for my sins and a firm
purpose of amendment, while I contemplate with great love and tender pity Thy Five Wounds,
pondering over them within me and calling to mind
the words which David Thy Prophet said of Thee my Jesus,
"They have pierced My Hands and My Feet,
they have numbered all My Bones."  (Ps 21: 17-18)
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, for the Holy Father's intentions.
Plenary indulgence when said after Communion (S. Paen. Ap., 2 Feb 1934)
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy Wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee.
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever.
Amen
St. Ignatius Loyola

An indulgence of 300 days.  An indulgence of 7 years , if recited after Holy Communion.

WHY Should I go to Mass Every Day?

"The Mass is the most perfect form of prayer." Pope Paul VI

For each Mass we hear with devotion, Our Lord sends a saint to comfort us at death. (revelation of Christ to St. Gertrude the great)

St. Padre Pio, the stigmatic priest, said, the world could exist more easily without the sun than without the Mass.

The Cure' Ars, St. Jean Vianney said, if we knew the value of the Mass we would die of joy.

A great doctor of the Church, St. Anselm, declares that a single Mass offered for oneself during life may be worth more than a thousand celebrated for the same intention after death.  St. Leonard of Port Maurice supports this statement by saying that one Mass before death may be more profitable than many after it.

"The Holy Mass would be of greater profit if people had it offered in their lifetime, rather than having it celebrated for the relief of their souls after death."  Pope Benedict XV

Once, St. Teresa was overwhelmed with God's Goodness and asked Our Lord, "How can I thank you?"  Our Lord replied, "ATTEND ONE MASS."
Spiritual Communion
The best way to receive Christ is in Holy Communion at Mass.

Yet for those times you can’t make Mass, or can’t take Communion because of an unconfessed mortal sin (for which you can ask for and receive God’s forgiveness in the Sacrament of Penance), you can still reach out to Him by making a Spiritual Communion in prayer!

St. Thomas Aquinas once defined a Spiritual Communion as “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament [in Communion at Mass] and in lovingly embracing Him as if we had actually received Him.”

The value of a spiritual Communion well made is enormous.  We can and should make one frequently.  Simply think of Jesus and how much He love us and how much we love Him, then ask Our Blessed Mother to ask Her Divine Son to come into our hearts.  We can offer these Communions for the interest of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, noting our special intention!
Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there          and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

The Hail Mary and St. Louis de Monfort

Brief Explanation of the Hail Mary
by St. Louis de Montofort

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee!
Blessed art thou among women
And Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus!
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death.
Amen

Are you in the miserable state of sin?  Then call on Mary and say to her, “Ave,” which means “I greet thee with the most profound respect, thou who art without sin,” and she will deliver you from the evil of your sins.

Are you groping in the darkness of ignorance and error?  Go to Mary and say to her, “Hail Mary,” which means “Hail, thou who art bathed in the light of the Sun of Justice,”  and she will give you a share in her light.

Star of the Sea - Ave Stella Maris
Have you strayed from the path leading to heaven? Then call on Mary, for her name means “Star of the Sea, the Polar Star which guides the ships of our souls during the voyage of this life,”  and she will guide you to the harbour of eternal salvation.

Are you in sorrow?  Turn to Mary, for her name means also “Sea of Bitterness which has been filled with bitterness in this world but which is now turned into a sea of purest joy in heaven,” and she will turn your sorrow into joy and your affliction into consolation.

Have you lost the state of grace?  Praise and honour the numberless graces with which God has filled the Blessed Virgin and say to her, Thou art full of grace and filled with all the gifts of the Holy Ghost, and she will give you some of these graces.

Are you alone, having lost God’s protection?  Pray to Mary and say, The Lord is with thee, in a nobler and more intimate way then he is with the saints and the just, because thou art one with him.  He is thy Son and his flesh is thy flesh; thou art united to the Lord because of thy perfect likeness to him and by your mutual love, for thou art his Mother.  And then say to her, “The three persons of the Godhead are with thee because thou art the Temple of the Blessed Trinity,” and she will place you once more under the protection and care of God.

Have you become an outcast and been accursed by God?  Then say to our Lady, “Blessed art thou above all women and above all nations by thy purity and fertility; thou hast turned God’s maledictions into blessings for us.”  She will bless you.

Jesus and His Mother, Blessed by the fruit of Thy womb
Do you hunger for the bread of grace and the bread of life?  Draw near to her who bore the living Bread which came down from heaven, and say to her, "Blessed be the fruit of thy womb, whom thou hast conceived without the slightest loss to thy virginity, whom thou didst carry without discomfort and brought forth without pain.  Blessed be Jesus who redeemed our suffering world when we were in the bondage of sin, who has healed the world of its sickness, who has raised the dead to life, brought home the banished, restored sinners to grace, and saved men from damnation.  Without doubt, your soul will be filled with the bread of grace in this life and of eternal glory in the next. Amen.”

Conclude your prayer with the Church and say, “Holy Mary,” holy because of thy incomparable and eternal devotion to the service of God, holy in thy great rank as Mother of God, who has endowed thee with eminent holiness, in keeping with this great dignity.  “Mother of God, and our Mother, our Advocate and Mediatrix, Treasurer and dispenser of God’s graces, obtain for us the prompt forgiveness of our sins and grant that we may be reconciled with the divine majesty.

Holy Mary, Mother of God
“Pray for us sinners, thou who art always filled with compassion for those in need, who never despise sinners or turn them away, for without them you would never have been Mother of the Redeemer.
“Pray for us now, during this short life, so fraught with sorrow and uncertainty; now, because we can be sure of nothing except the present moment; now that we are surrounded and attacked night and day by powerful and ruthless enemies.

“And at the hour of our death, so terrible and full of danger, when our strength is waning and our spirits are sinking, and our souls and bodies are worn out with fear and pain; at the hour of our death when the devil is working with might and main to ensnare us and cast us into perdition; at that hour when our lot will be decided forever and ever, heaven or hell.

Refuge of Sinners
“Come to the help of your poor children, gentle Mother of pity, Advocate and Refuge of sinners, at the hour of our death drive far from us our bitter enemies, the devils, our accusers, whose frightful presence fills us with dread.

Light our path through the valley of the shadow of death.  Lead us to thy Son’s judgment-seat and remain at our side.  Intercede for us and ask thy Son to pardon us and receive us into the ranks of thy elect in the realms of everlasting glory.  Amen.”

Our Mother of Perpetual Help (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Prayers

Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for us!

Novena Prayer

Dear Mother of Perpetual Help * from the cross Jesus gave you to us for our Mother. You are the kindest the most loving * of all mothers. Look tenderly on us your children * as we now ask you to help us in all our needs * especially this one … (Pause to recall your petition). While you were on earth, dear Mother * you willingly shared in the sufferings of your Son. Strengthened by your faith and confidence * in the fatherly love of God * you accepted the mysterious designs of His will.

Prayer for the Home

Mother of Perpetual Help * we choose you as Queen of our homes. We ask you to bless all our families * with your tender motherly love. May the Sacrament of Marriage * bind husbands and wives so closely together * that they will always be faithful to each other * and love one another as Christ loves his Church.

We ask you to bless all parents. May they love and cherish the children * whom God has entrusted to them. May they always give them the example * of a truly Christian life. Help them to bring up their children * in the love and fear of God. Bless all children * that they may love, honor and obey * their fathers and mothers. To your loving care * we especially entrust the youth of today.

Give us all a sense of responsibility * that we may do our part * in making our home a haven of peace * like your own home at Nazareth. We take you as our model. Help us to grow daily in genuine love of God and neighbor * so that justice and peace may happily reign * in the entire family of mankind. Amen.

Petitions to our Mother of Perpetual Help

Holy Mary

Holy Virgin, conceived without sin
* Pray for us.

Our Mother of Perpetual Help
* Pray for us.

Consecration

(1st Wednesday of the month)

Immaculate Virgin Mary * Mother of God and Mother of the Church * you are also our Mother of Perpetual Help. With hearts full of love for you * we consecrate ourselves to your Immaculate Heart * so that we may be your devoted children. Obtain for us true sorrow for our sins * and fidelity to the promises of our Baptism.

We consecrate our minds and hearts to you * that we may always do the will of our heavenly Father. We consecrate our lives to you * that we may love God better * and live not for ourselves but for Christ your Son * and that we may see him and serve him in others.

By this humble act of consecration * dear Mother of Perpetual Help * we pledge to model our lives on you * the perfect Christian * so that consecrated to you in life and in death * we may belong to your Divine Son for all eternity. Amen.

We sinners call to you

* Loving Mother, help us.

Thanksgiving Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ * truly present in the Most Blessed Eucharist * we adore you. It has pleased the Father * that in you all his fullness should dwell * and that through you * he should reconcile all things to himself. Grant us the grace to be truly grateful * for all that our Father has done for us. Grant that we may be truly sorry for our sins * and do penance for them.

Through you, we thank the Eternal Father for the gift of life. He has created all the wonderful things of this world for us. May we learn to use them well * so that through them * we may grow in love for Him.

Above all, we thank our Father * for sending you to us * as the greatest expression of his love * to save us and all creation * by your death and resurrection.

We thank you Lord * for giving us your own Mother to be our Mother of Perpetual Help. May the countless favours we have received through her intercession, * and especially through the Novena * inspire us to greater confidence in God’s loving mercy * and her perpetual help. Grant that we may always do the holy Will of God * and persevere in his love.

To the Most Holy Trinity * Father, Son and Holy Spirit * be honour, glory and thanksgiving forever and ever. Amen.

Silent Prayer (Pause)

Prayer for the Sick

Lord Jesus Christ * you bore our sufferings and carried our sorrows * in order to show us clearly * the value of human weakness and patience; * graciously hear our prayers for the sick. Grant that those who are weighed down * with pain and other afflictions of illness * may realize that they are among the chosen ones * whom you call blessed. Help them to understand * that they are united with you in your sufferings * for the salvation of the world. Amen.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I hasten to you. O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you, I come; before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise my petition, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

 Prayer for Financial Aid

Realizing, dear Mother, that you are our perpetual help, not only in spiritual but also in temporal necessities, we ask you to help us in our present financial worry. Because of unavoidable circumstances which have arisen in our lives, we are in great want and financial embarrassment, since we are unable to meet our honest debts. We are not asking, dearest Mother of Perpetual Help, for wealth, if the possession of it is not in accordance with the will of God; we merely ask you for that assistance which will help us to settle our present obligations. We believe, dear Mother of God, that you are extremely kind and generous to all your loving and devoted children. We plead with you, therefore, dear Mother, to obtain for us the help we so urgently need. We are trying so earnestly to solve our problem but we believe in your powerful intercession with Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son and our Redeemer. Amen.

Temptation

Mary, my Mother, your love for us could not be greater or more powerful. You are rich in love and your power brings us relief. You want everyone to be saved. I beg you therefore, protect me in temptation and strengthen me when I weaken. I struggle daily to be faithful to Jesus your son. Help me my Mother at every moment. But above all take me by the hand when you see that I am weakening and about to fall. I will have to battle with temptation till the day I die. My Lady, you are my hope, my refuge, my strength; never let me lose the grace of God. In every temptation I resolve to turn to you at once and pray: Mary help me. (St. Alphonsus)
