Our Lady of Fatima

Fatima Detailed Facts continued . . .

Our Lady Comes!!

Apparitions of
the Mother of God

“I am of Heaven”

May 13th - the First Apparition

"It was the Sunday preceding the Ascension.  After Mass they went out to feed their sheep. After eating lunch and reciting the Rosary, they began to play.

Suddenly they saw a flash of lightening, they thought that they should go home because a thunderstorm may be coming. As they were leading the sheep down the hill past a large holm oak tree, another flash of lightening came.  . .

Fatima Apparition of Our Lady to three shepherd children
And then they saw her—“we beheld a Lady all dressed in white.  She was more brilliant than the sun, and radiated a light more clear and intense than a crystal glass filled with sparkling water, when the rays of the burning sun shine through it.”

She spoke, “Do not be afraid. I will do you no harm.”“Where does your Grace come from?”

"Oh, What a Beautiful Lady!"

Mary the Mother of God
The Lady’s appearance has more details that I never knew.. I just remember hearing about the Lady in white…  Here is what the children saw. . ."She seemed to be about fifteen. . ." She appeared small, scarcely five feet tall.  When she speaks, "Her voice is soft and pleasant."

So beautiful that all images, all of the statues of the apparition disappoint Sister Lucy.  She wrote to Bishop Msgr.da Silva, “it is impossible to depict Her as she really is, and we cannot even describe Her with words of this earth.” “We say a Lady all dressed in white, more brilliant than the sun. . .”

Another notable  and surprising thing is that after the apparitions, the seers said  that the Blessed Virgin was so sparkling that Her light dazzled them, “Why do you often lower your eyes and stop looking at Our Lady?” asked Canon Formigao. “Because sometimes She blinds me,” Lucy answered.  The Apparition “all shining with light” nevertheless looked to be in the eyes of the seer, a real human person, of ineffable beauty:

Mary, Mother of God

“The face, with infinitely pure and delicate lines,
shines in an aureole of the sun. . .
The eyes are black.
The hands are joined on top of her breast.
From the right hand there hangs
a beautiful Rosary
with white beads, brilliant as pearls,
ending in a little cross of silver,
which also sparkles.

The feet . . . gently come down onto
a little ermine cloud
which comes over the
green branches of the shrub. . .
The dress, which is snow white,
falls right down to the feet. . .

A white veil (a veritable mantle),
with edges adorned
with find braided gold,
covers the head, the shoulders,
and falling almost as low as the dress, envelope the whole body.”

Our Lady of Fatima

“You can see, in the front, two gold cords
which fall from the neck and
are joined at the waist by a tassel, also gold.”

In fact, it was a ball of light suspended from the neck of Our Lady by a chain descending right down to the cincture. In 1922, Lucy wrote clearly, “At the neck She had a necklace with a ball that went down to Her waist.”  She describes the dress and the mantle could be distinguished from each other like two “undulatious of light”, one over the other.

The dress fell straight down and was not precisely pleats…Lucy was so insistent that the poor sculptor had to make folds which had nothing realistic about them; they were to give the idea of light in vibration.

Trying to confuse her, Father McGlynn asked, “Did the hands of the color of flesh or the color of light?”

Lucy answered him,

“a flesh colored light (carnea luz).

She was all light.

This light had different tones:

yellow, white and other nuances.

By these different tones and intensities
one could distinguish the hands from the dress.”

The Vision of God

I was not aware that the children were given this miraculous grace. And their reactions are so childlike and real that Our Father must have been pleased.

“As she pronounced these last words, “the grace of God will be your comfort,” Our Lady opened Her hands for the first time, communication to us a light so intense that, as it streamed from Her hands, its rays penetrated our hearts and the innermost depths of our souls, making us see ourselves in God, Who was that light, better than we ourselves in the best of mirrors.”

“Then, moved by an inner impulse that was also communicated to us, we fell on our knees, repeating in our hearts,

“O Most Holy Trinity, I adore You!

My God, my God,
I love You in
the most Blessed Sacrament!”

"We felt the same intimate joy, the same peace and happiness,” comparing the apparition of the Angel and that of Our Lady, “but instead of physical exhaustion, and expansive ease of movement: instead of this annihilation in the Divine Presence, a joyful exultation: instead of difficulty in speaking, we felt a certain communicative enthusiasm.”

“. . . however, with regard to the light communicated to us when Our Lady opened Her hands, and everything connected with this light, we experienced a kind of inner impulse that compelled us to keep silent.”

In 1936, in a letter to her confessor, Father Goncalves, Sister Lucy, commenting on this vision writes,

“We fell on our knees.  It inspired us with so great
a knowledge of God
that it is not easy to speak about it.”

Francisco said,
“I loved seeing the Angel.
I loved still more seeing Our Lady.
What I loved most of all was to see Our Lord
in that light from Our Lady which penetrated our hearts.
I love God so much!
But He is very sad because of so many sins!
We must never commit any sins again.”

Francisco Marto

Lucy relates an incident with Francisco, “. . . he climbed up to the top of a steep rock, and called out to us, ‘Don’t come up here, let me stay here alone’”   “When I went to call him again, he said to me: ‘You come up here and pray with me.’  We climbed up to the peak, where the three of us could scarcely find room to kneel down, and I asked him, ‘But what have you been doing all this time?’

‘I’m thinking about God,
Who is so sad because of
so many sins!
If only I could give him joy!’”

A Holm Oak Tree
"We felt the same intimate joy, the same peace and happiness,” comparing the apparition of the Angel and that of Our Lady, “but instead of physical exhaustion, and expansive ease of movement: instead of this annihilation in the Divine Presence, a joyful exultation: instead of difficulty in speaking, we felt a certain communicative enthusiasm.”

She had chosen a little holm oak, about a meter high, "We were so close," writes Lucy, "that we found ourselves in the light surrounding Her, or rather emanating from Her, about a meter and a half away, more or less."

"I do not believe that She ever stayed long enough to recite a Rosary." said Lucy.

Since Our Lady had not asked them to make known what She had said, the prudent Lucy thought it wise to keep the apparition secret because of the trouble she had when the angel's appearance was told, she feared it would be worse.

Francisco saw the Blessed Virgin perfectly, but did not hear Her words.  He only understood the questions of Lucy.  Jacinta saw and heard everything, she never brought herself to speak to the apparition.

Thus Lucy was the only one to have the privilege of speaking with Her.

Lucy relates about Jacinta, "unable to contain herself for joy, broke our agreement to keep the whole matter to ourselves."

Poor little Jacinta just couldn’t hold it in and told her mother that very night.  Francisco affirmed what she said to his parents. As he told Lucia afterwards that he had to tell to avoid lying.

Jacinta . . .
"There was something within me
that wouldn't let me keep quiet,"

Jacinta said, with tears in her eyes. . . "Forgive me.  I won't tell anybody anything ever again!"  She kept that promise. Although Lucy readily answered the questions of her parish priest, Jacinta would not open her mouth. .  . “Why didn’t you answer the priest?” “Because I promised you never to tell anything to anybody again!”

The Place of the Apparition

Cova da Iria, Fatima Portugal

‘. . . this Cova da Iria, no doubt so named in honor of St. Irene, the little martyr of purity, massacred at Tomar, around 20 kilometers away, on the order of a suitor she had refused.  Yes, Lucy had ever reason to stress that her choice of a pasture this morning of May 13 was utterly providential. “Having originally taken a path that would have led to the  hamlet of Gouveia, Lucy suddenly decided that the pasture that day would be at the Cova da Iria. .  .” This vast basin with the harmonious name would become the immense domain of he sanctuary of Mary. . .’

‘. . . when Our Lady appeared, the children were playing at building; they were making a little stone wall around a clump of furze.  At that spot, remarks Canon Barthas, ‘in a few years they would begin  building the great Basilica of Our Lady of Fatima, as though our shepherd had already laid the foundations.’ At the very spot that Francisco was building, the first stone was laid, and it is also here that the body of Jacinta lies. “Locus iste sanctus est . . .Holy is this place.’

The Cycle of Six Apparitions

“here for six months in succession, on the 13th day , at the same hour.” This leads us from May 13th to October 13th and also describes the cycle of apparitions between the two months dedicated to Our Lady, the month of May and the month of the Rosary.

No doubt also it is this regularity, this precision of the heavenly rendezvous, which more than anything else favored the increase in the crowds coming to the Cova da Iria.  What firmness in this promise of Our Lady, by which all sincere and upright minds found themselves as though held in suspense until October 13th . . . For the Blessed Virgin had added: ‘Then I will tell you who I am and what I want.’

Therefore, after the apparition of October 13th, the children had no hesitation in answering questions, 'Will the Lady appear again.’ . . . And Lucy answered, "I do not expect her to appear again. . ."

Thus it is quite clear that the apparitions formed a unique and well-defined cycle.  And yet, the Blessed Virgin had added another promise. . . ‘Afterwards, I will come back a seventh time’ This last sentence, long omitted by historians, no doubt because of it’s mysterious character, remains for us uncertain in meaning to this day. . .”

Is this promised apparition part of the Third Secret. . . when the whole mystery of Fatima shall be completed?"

I, myself, wonder if it will happen in 2017 the 100th Anniversary of Fatima??

Going to Heaven

Lucy asks, "Shall I go to heaven?" Our Lady answered, "Yes, you shall." "And Jacinta?" "Yes" "and Francisco?" "yes, but he will have to say many rosaries."

"Afterwards, we told Francisco all that Our Lady had said.  He was overjoyed and expressed happiness he felt when he heard of the promise that he would go to Heaven.  Crossing his hands over his breast, he exclaimed, 'Oh, my dear Our Lady!  I'll say as many Rosaries as You want!'"

Lucy asks about a little girl who had died, Maria das Neves, Our Lady exclaims is already in heaven.

They ask about a young woman who had died a short time before, Our Lady answered, "She shall be in purgatory until the end of the world."  This girl, Amelia, died in circumstances involving "an irremediable dishonor in the matter of chastity."

What is certain is that Our Lady wanted us to know this for our instruction, and it would be foolish presumption to pretend to dispute the judgments of God.  He alone, who intimately knows each soul, the abundance of graces He has given to it, the degree of knowledge it had of its fault and the quality of its repentance, is the judge of the gravity of sin. . . and to arouse the fear of the punishments of God in careless or hardened sinners, always so prompt in finding excuses, and to increase in humble and faithful souls, the desire to persevere  in a holy life.

Suffering, Trials, Persecution -
the Children's lives were forever changed

Our Lady asks,
"Are you willing to offer yourselves to God
and to bear all the sufferings  He Wills to send you,
as an act of reparation for all the sins
by which He is offended and of supplication
for the conversion of sinners?"

Lucy answered, "Yes, we are."
"Then you have much to suffer."

For this is the  law  of sacrifice; there is no oblation acceptable to God without immolation.  Excerpt The Whole Truth of Fatima

Lucy writes, “In the meantime, news of what had happened was spreading. My mother was getting worried, and wanted to at all costs to make me deny what I had said.  One day, before I set out with the flock, she was determined to make me confess that I was telling lies, and to this end she spared neither caresses, nor threats, nor even the broomstick.  To all this she received nothing but a mute silence, or the confirmation of all that I said. . .”

”From then on,” Lucy writes, “Francisco made a habit of moving away from us, as though going for a walk. When we called to him and asked him what he was doing, he raised his hand and showed me his Rosary.  If we told him to come and play, and say the Rosary with us afterwards, he replied, ‘I’ll pray then as well.

Don’t you remember that Our Lady said I must pray many Rosaries?’” .  . “From time to time Francisco would say: ‘Our Lady told us that we would have much to suffer, but I don’t mind.  I’ll suffer all that She wishes!  What I want is to go to Heaven!’”

June 13th -The Second Apparition

Already several dozen persons were present, who had come from neighboring hamlets for the most part, and some of them even from Torres Novas, more than sixty miles away. From the parish there was hardly anyone, except for Maria Carreira, a believer from the beginning.

The next moment, Our Lady was there on the holm oak, exactly the same as in May.

Lucy asks, "What does Our Grace want from me?"

Our Lady, "I wish you to come here on the 13th of next month, to pray the Rosary every day, and to learn to read. Later I will tell you what I want."

Lucy, "I would like to ask you to take us to Heaven."

Our Lady, "Yes,  I will take Jacinta and Francisco soon.  But you are to stay here some time longer.  Jesus wishes to make use of you to make Me known and loved.  He wants to establish in the world the devotion to My Immaculate Heart.  To whoever embraces this devotion I promise salvation;  these souls shall be dear to God, as flowers placed by Me to adorn His throne."

Lucy, "Am I to stay here alone?" she asked sadly

O.L. "No, My daughter.  Do you suffer a great deal?  Don't loose heart.  I will never forsake you.  My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God."

"As Our Lady spoke these last words, She opened Her hands and for the second time, She communicated to us the rays of that intense light.

We saw ourselves in this light, as it were,
immersed in God.
Jacinta and Francisco seemed to be
in that part of the light which rose towards Heaven,
and I in that which poured out on the earth."

Immaculate Heart of Mary encircled with thorns

"In front of the palm of Our Lady's right hand
was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it.

We understood that this was
the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
outraged by sins of humanity,
and seeking reparation."

July 13th  the Third Apparition

Lucy looked at the vision without daring to speak to it. Then Jacinta intervened: "Come on Lucy speak! Don't you see She is already there and wants to speak to you?"

"What does Your Grace want of me?" I asked

OL "I want you to come here on the 13th of next month, and to continue praying the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war, because only She can help you."

Lucy, "I would like to ask you to tell us who you are, and to work a miracle so that everybody will believe that you are appearing to us."

OL, "Continue to come here every month.  In October, I will tell you who I am and what I want, and I will perform a miracle for all to see and believe."

OL, "Sacrifice yourselves for sinners, and say many times, especially when you make some sacrifice:

O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners,
and in reparation for the sins committed against
the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

The Vision of Hell & Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Children after vision of hell Fatima July 1917
It was when Our Lady opened her hands again as in the two previous apparitions that the children had the vision of hell. “This vision lasted only a moment, thanks to Our Good Mother in heaven who, in the first apparition had promised us to take us to Heaven.  Were it not for that, I think we would have died of fright and fear.”

Imagine the horror and fear that the children must have felt being shown the reality of hell! As you can see from the picture above, they are still showing the horror in their faces... (this photo was taken immediately after the apparition and the vision of hell.) The snapshot was taken by Mario Godinho, near the church in Fatima.

"She opened Her hands once more, as She had done the two previous months. The rays [of light] appeared to penetrate the earth, and we saw, as it were, a vast sea of fire.

Hell - in this fire we saw demons and the souls of the damned
Plunged in this fire, we saw the demons and the souls [of the damned]. The latter were like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, having human forms. They were floating about in that conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames which issued from within themselves, together with great clouds of smoke. Now they fell back on every side like sparks in huge fires, without weight or equilibrium, amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fright (it must have been this sight which caused me to cry out, as people say they heard me).

In hell demons were like frightful and unknown animals
The demons were distinguished [from the souls of the damned] by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, black and transparent like burning coals. That vision only lasted for a moment, thanks to our good Heavenly Mother, Who at the first apparition had promised to take us to Heaven. Without that, I think that we would have died of terror and fear."

Mary said to the children, “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go.

After the Apparition regarding Hell

“Jacinta often sat thoughtfully on the ground or on a rock, and exclaimed,

‘Oh Hell! Hell! How sorry I am for the souls who go to Hell!  And the people down there burning alive, like wood in a fire!
Jacinta Marto, Fatima Visionary

Then shuddering, she knelt down with her hands joined and recited the prayer Our Lady taught us:

‘Oh my Jesus! Pardon us, save us, from the fires of hell.  Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in need.’. . .

The final words of this prayer, Lucy states, “refer to souls in greatest danger of damnation, or those who are nearest to it.”

Jacinta remained on her knees like this for long periods of time, saying the same prayers over and over again.  From time to time she called out to her brother or myself: Francisco! Francisco! Are you praying with me? We must pray very much to save souls from hell!  So many go there! So many!”

"In the third apparition (Lucy reports), Francisco seemed to be the one on whom the vision of hell made the least impression, though it did indeed have a considerable effect on him. What made the most powerful impression on him and what wholly absorbed him was God, the Most Holy Trinity, perceived in that light which penetrated our inmost souls.  Afterwards he said,

"We were on fire in that light which is God, and yet we were not burnt!  What is God? . . . We could never put it into words.  Yes, that is something indeed which we could never express!  But what a pity it is that He is so sad!  If only I could console Him! . . ."

Devotion to the Immaculate Heart

“You have seen hell where poor souls go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart.  If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. . ."

"To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays

If my requests are heeded Russia will be converted and there will be peace;  if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church.

The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated.

In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph.

The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world.  In Portugal, the Dogma of the Faith will always be preserved; . . .etc [sic] Do not tell this to anybody, Francisco, yes you may tell him.”

"In the front of the palm of Our Lady’s right hand was a heart
encircled by thorns which pierced it.  We understood that this was the
Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation.”

After the Apparition:

Francisco’s reaction: Lucy speaks “He was very impressed by the reflection of light . . . At the time, he did not seem to understand what was happening, perhaps because it was not given to him to hear the accompanying words of Our Lady.  For this reason, he asked later: ‘Why did Our Lady have a heart in Her hand, spreading out all over the world that great light which is God?’ . . .

“Sometimes he said:

‘These people are so happy just because you told them that Our Lady wants the Rosary said, and that you are to learn to read!

How would they feel if they only knew what She showed to us in God, in Her Immaculate Heart, in that great light!’”

*Lucy: “I think that, on that day, the main purpose of this light was to infuse within us a special knowledge and love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, just as on the other two occasions it was intended to do, as it seems to me, with regard to God and the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity.

From that day onwards our hearts were filled with a more ardent love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

Jacinta: “From time to time she would say to me:

“The Lady said that Her Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.  Don’t you love that?  Her Heart is so good!  How I love it!”

Immaculate Heart

Our Lady speaks:

“Jesus wishes to establish
in the world devotion to
My Immaculate Heart.
To whoever embraces

this devotion, I promise salvation.”

"When you say the Rosary, say after each mystery:

O my Jesus, forgive us,
save us from the fire of hell.
Lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those who are most in need."

SECOND SECRET:  War Ending, Another Coming

“. . .The war is going to end, but if people do not cease offending God, a worse war will break out during the reign of Pope Pius XI.

When you see a night illumined by an unknown light know that this is the great sign given to you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famines and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father.”

It Happened!
January 25, 1938 The Fatima Storm - The Great Aurora was seen over the whole of Europe and as far south as Southern Australia, Sicily, Portugal and across the Atlantic to Bermuda and Southern California. Crowds in Vienna awaiting the imminent birth of Princess Juliana's baby cheered the aurora as a lucky omen. "The immense arches of crimson light with shifting areas of green and blue, radiated from a brilliant Auroral Crown near the zenith instead of appearing as usual in parallel lines. It was also considered to be one of the Fatima Prophesies by Roman Catholics worldwide. . .

August 19th the Fourth Apparition

Because of the actions of the mayor who was a Mason, the children were kept away from the Cova on August 13th, hence Our Lady appeared to them on the 19th.

She told them if they had not be kept away from the Cova on the 13th,  a greater and more wonderful sign would have been given on October 13th.
"I want you to continue going to the Cova da Iria on the 13th , and to continue praying the Rosary every day.  In the last month, I will work a miracle so that all may believe.

If you had not been taken away to the City,
the miracle would have been even greater.

Saint Joseph will come with the Child Jesus, to give peace to the world.   Our Lord will come to bless the people.  Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Sorrows will also come."

During this visit, Our Lady exhorted the children:

"Pray, pray very much, and make sacrifices for sinners;
for many souls go to hell,
because there are none to sacrifice themselves
and to pray for them."

September 13th – the Fifth Apparition

This encounter took place on the day before the Feast of the Triumph of the Holy Cross. On this occasion Our Lady told the children about the miracle to take place in October, and that "God is pleased with your sacrifices. He does not want you to sleep with the ropeon, but only to wear it during the daytime." This was one of the many sacrifices the children practiced for the reparation of sinners.

"Continue to say the Rosary to obtain the end of the war.
In October Our Lord will come, as well as
Our Lady of Sorrows, and Our Lady of Carmel.
St. Joesph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world."

October 13th – Sixth Apparition
The Miracle of the Sun

People came to see the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima

  • Approximately 70,000 persons had gathered to see the promised miracle, even reporters from the secular papers in Lisbon.
Awaiting the Miracle promised at Fatima
  • Our Lady revealed Herself as the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
  • After responding to a request for the conversion and healing of certain persons, some would be healed others would not.

  •  Our Lady, looking sad, said: "Do not offend the Lord Our God anymore, because He is already so much offended."

In the pouring rain they came to see the Miracle of Fatima
  • Then Our Lady ascended into the Heavens and the three children were given a vision of St. Joseph holding the Child Jesus and blessing the world, of Jesus Himself blessing the world, and of Herself under Her titles of the Immaculate Conception, Co-redemptrix, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Crowd witnesses the miracle of the sun at Fatima
  • The Miracle of the Sun…The sun began to pulsate and twirl about in the sky and rays of all colors came forth radiating from its disk. It began to move about erratically and then fell suddenly to the earth amid the cries and shouts of more that 70,000 pilgrims and critics who had assembled. Afterwards, it began to ascend to its former place, leaving the entire crowd and ground perfectly dry. This miracle was seen even as far away as 20 miles and was witnessed even by the atheistic reporters who were present.   See video: Youtube  The Miracle of the Sun

*Pray the Rosary

"After a few moments, Our Lady spoke again, "Pray the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war."

Now as never before, we need the help of Our Lady in these evil times that are upon us. . . The whole world seems to have gone mad.

for reparation for the sins that have greatly offended the Lord so much.  And for poor sinners who are running headlong to the depths of hell every day, let us save as many as we can from this terrible plight.

After her last words on the Rosary, on war and peace, Our Lady, Lucy recalls, "began to rise slowly in the direction of the east, until She finally disappeared in the immensity of Heaven.  She went up so high that She could no longer be seen."

What the people experienced
during the apparitions. . .

*Manuel Goncalves who witnessed the apparitions said, “When Lucy speaks to Our Lady she speaks loudly.  I myself heard her in June because I was near her.  Some people say that they heard the sound of the reply.”

Other witnesses relate that between  the words of Lucy, they heard something like the murmur of a very fine, but unintelligible voice. . .Maria Carreira said, “Then (after Lucy had begun to speak to Our Lady), we began to hear something like the sound of a very faint voice; but we could not understand what it was saying; it was like the buzzing of a bee.”

*“During the vision, another witness notes, “the branches of the tree were bent down all around it, as though the weight of Our Lady were resting on it.”

*“It sounded like a rocket when Our Lady left the tree,” Maria Carreira relates, “it sounded somewhat like a rocket, a long way off, as it goes up.  Lucy got up very quickly, and with her arm outstretched cried, “Look there She goes! There She goes!”

*“The branches leaned towards the east,” another witness relates.  “We were in the month of June and the tree had all its boughs covered with little sprouts.  Now at the end of the apparition, when Lucy announced that Our Lady was leaving in the direction of the east, all the branches of the tree picked up and leaned in the same direction, as if Our Lady , as She left, had let Her dress rest upon the boughs.”

*A little cloud went up towards the east.  Witness Maria Carreira describes the phenomenon.  When Lucy said, “There She goes!”  It was “a little cloud . . .which went up gently in the direction of the east, until it finally disappeared completely. Certain people said ‘I still see it there it is. . .’ until finally nobody claimed to see it.  The little children remained silent, their eyes fixed on the same point in the sky, until finally Lucy declared: “There, now we can’t see Her any more.  She has gone back into Heaven, the doors are shut!”

*The shoots of the Holm Oak which had been standing upright before, were now all bent towards the east, as if someone had stood upon them.

*“The luminosity of the sky noticeably decreased, as during an eclipse, the whole time the ecstasy of the children lasted.”  At the same time, the temperature which was very hot, went down noticeably, and the tint of the light was modified.  The atmosphere became yellow as gold.

*A whitish cloud, rather pleasant to look at formed around the seers. Mr. Marto, “I saw what looked like a little greyish cloud resting on the oak tree, and the sun’s heat lessened and there was a delicious fresh breeze.  It hardly seemed like the height of summer.”

*“.  .  . we heard a large clap of thunder and the little arch which had been put up to hang the two lanterns on, trembled as if in an earthquake.  .  .”

**“After the clap of thunder came the flash of lightening, and then we began to see a little cloud, very delicate, very white, which stopped for a few moments over the tree and then rose in the air and disappeared. As we looked around us we noticed the strange thing which we had seen before and were to see in the following months; our faces were reflecting all the colors of the rainbow,  pink, red, blue. . . The trees seemed to be made not of leaves but of flowers; they seemed to be laden with flowers, each leaf seemed to be a flower.  The ground came out in colors and so did our clothes.  The lanterns fixed to the arch looked like gold.” (August 13, 1917)

**An Amazing Rain of Flowers - During the apparition the majority of the pilgrims had enjoyed a marvelous spectacle: they saw falling from Heaven a shower of white petals,  or round shining snowflakes which slowly decended and disappeared as they approached the ground. . . "Very high up with saw little white forms like snow in the air, coming across from the east to the west.  One could say they were doves, but we could clearly see that they were not birds. . ."  "One might think they were stars," declared Manuel Goncalves, from the hamlet of Montelo.  Others spoke of a rain of white roses, which vanished at the approach of the ground.

**Lucy exclaimed, "If you want to see Her, look over there!" And she pointed her finger towards the east.  Then once again the luminous globe having an oval form could be seen, going up into the air and leaving the Cova da Iria in the direction of the east.  “After a few minutes, about the duration the Apparition, the child began to exclaim again, pointing to the sky: “Now it’s going again!”  -- she followed the globe with her eyes until it disappeared in the direction of the sun.  ‘What did you think of that globe?’ I asked my companion, who seemed enthuasiatic at what he had seen.

“That was Our Lady,”
he replied without hesitation.”

"Only She can help you"

The Secret of the secret, that God wills to give us everything through the mediation of the Blessed Virgin, in response to our devotion to Her Immaculate Heart, not only spiritual goods but even temporal peace, and this for the whole world.

Above is an excerpt from The Whole Truth about Fatima by Fere Michel de la SainteTrinite

"After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!'.

And we saw in an immense light that is God: 'something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White 'we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'.

Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions.

Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God."

There is much controversy about this third secret, many believe the full secret was not revealed... and that Russia has not been consecrated to the Immaculate Heart -- the Church states that it has. . .

There are other Marian Apparitions that have a message of what is to happen --- that many believe are the same as the undisclosed part of the Third Secret of Fatima.    I've gathered information about these information in PART 3.  I hope you check it out.
