Totus Tuus

Totally yours,

Immaculate Conception, Mary my Mother

Live in me, Act in me

Speak in me and through me,

Think your thoughts in my mind,

Love through my heart,

Give me your dispositions and feelings

Teach, lead me and guide me to Jesus,

Correct, enlighten and expand

my thoughts and behavior,

Possess my soul,

Take over my entire personality

And life, replace it with yourself,

Incline me to constant adoration,

Pray in me and through me,

Let me live in you and keep in this union always.

WHAT is the IMMACUALATE CONCEPTION???

 IMMACULATE CONCEPTION ...

WHAT IS IT???

WOW, there is a lot of misunderstanding about what Immaculate Conception is... so I thought I should address this topic since the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated DECEMBER 8th.

NO, this is not about Jesus being Conceived in Mary's womb...We celebrate that on March 25th called the Annunciation of the Lord.

The Immaculate Conception is the realization that God the Father made Mary perfect without stain of sin... she was "Immaculately Conceived."  How can anyone think that God would allow his true goodness and purity -- His Only Begotten Son -- to enter a sinful body????    In my simple little faith -- I can see this as truth, can't you??

I read somewhere (if I find the text I'll add it), that God the Father, knowing that He would send His Son had Mary Immaculately Conceived through the future merits that Her Son would achieve in His Passion and Death on the Cross.  

 

Church Fathers

Throughout the centuries Church Fathers have professed this as fact, but it wasn't until  Pope Pius IX, on December 8, 1854, would declare it a dogma.

"...We turn to the early Fathers of the Church. First, many, not all of them, make sweeping statements about her holiness. That could imply an Immaculate Conception. Secondly, very many of them speak of her as the New Eve. They could have reasoned: the first Eve had an immaculate start in life--no sin was yet committed. So the New Eve, who was to share in undoing the harm of original sin, should have also an immaculate start. However, none of the Fathers actually followed this line of reasoning. (A few Fathers even tried to find sins she had committed, e.g. St. John Chrysostom, Homilies on John 21. PG 59. 130ff)."

Pope Pius IX

In the Apostolic Constitution Ineffabilis Deus, Pope Pius IX wrote that 

"We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful."

    Mary, this Third Joy in honor of the Bestowal upon the Infant 

    Mary of Her Most Holy Name.

     Let us meditate upon the Fourth Joy of the Infant Mary, her Presentation in the Temple. 

We offer Thee, O Jesus through  Mary, this Fourth Joy in honor of the Presentation of the Infant Mary in the Temple.

    We praise thee and we glorify thee, O Immaculate Virgin Mary,   

     as we rejoice and contemplate with love thy Presentation in the 

     Temple.

            Her Most Holy Virginity to God the Father

    Let us meditate upon the Fifth Joy of the Infant Mary, the Consecration of her most Holy Virginity to God the Father. We  offer Thee, O Jesus through Mary, this Fifth Joy in honor of the 

    Consecration by the Infant Mary of her most Holy Virginity to    

    God the Father.

     We praise thee and we glorify thee, O Immaculate Virgin Mary, 

      as we rejoice and contemplate with love the holy Consecration 

      of thy Virginity to God.

     V. O Holy Infant Mary,

Let us Pray

               

Mary as a Child

    O beloved of God, most Holy Infant Mary, do thou hear and   

    answer me. Thou didst consecrate thy entire self from thy very   

    childhood to the love of thy God; obtain that I, during the time   

    that I have yet to be on earth, may live for God alone. Do thou   

    obtain for me from thy Divine Son the grace to follow His   

    command to strip myself of all pride and to "convert and become

    as a little child," living always in the spirit of humble obedience.

    On this day, in union with thee -- most Holy Infant Mary, I   

    renounce all creatures and the spirit of the world, and I   

    consecrate myself entirely to the love of my Lord. I also offer    

    myself to thee, my Immaculate Queen, to serve thee always. 

    Accept me as thy devoted servant in an especial manner, and    

    obtain for me the grace to be faithful to thee and to thy Son at  

    every moment of my life, that I may one day praise thee and love

    thee for all eternity in Heaven. Amen.
